Utopia Village is a dive and adventure resort remotely located on the island of Utila. Utila is the smallest of The Bay Islands of Honduras. Once known as a back packers haven for inexpensive diving, resorts such as Deep Blue, Laguna Beach, Mango Inn and most recently Utopia Village have elevated the divers vacation to one filled with great tropical accommodations along with over 100 buoyed dive sites surrounding the island.
The resort sits on just under two acres of beachfront property (485 feet of ocean front) filled with lush jungle. There are three dive sites that compose a beautiful house reef perfect for snorkeling and shore diving. The ocean graduates from 5 to 25 foot of water filled with a variety of reef and marine-life. A mere 150-foot swim brings you to a dramatic 130-foot drop off. All rooms have private bathrooms with hot water, ceiling fans and split AC units. Utopia was professionally designed combining casual luxury and "green design". This property holds an environmental permit from the Honduran government meeting strict guidelines in building and site standards.
Completed in 2007, the resort and all equipment are fairly new and in very good condition. Owners have lived on site to ensure proper maintenance and service. Current on site owners will provide up to 6 months management and training to new owner. The buildings are on solid wooden piers with wood structures and local coral stone accents. The interiors are filled with high-end European fixtures, dimmer switches, recessed lighting and a combination of modern sheet rock ceilings and wood cathedral ceilings with cupolas. All buildings feature custom floor to ceiling panoramic windows with views of the ocean and mountains on the nearby mainland.
